Just to the north of Litton the limestone gives way to the shales and gritstones of the 'Dark Peak' area, with its gritstone edges and peat covered moors. This includes the Hope Valley and the lovely Edale Valley, starting point for the Pennine Way. Further north lies the dark brooding mass of Kinder Scout, the highest peak of the area. This is magnificent walking country. |
